Early Childhood Education

The Early Childhood program is a 2 year competency-based diploma program. This program helps students gain the knowledge and skills required to work as an early childhood educator. Students will learn how to :

  • Plan and implement educational activities which foster comprehensive child development
  • Create a healthy and safe environment
  • Respond to children’s needs at various levels
  • Observe and detect developmental issues
  • Create supportive relationships with parents
  • Work as an effective team member

Admission requirements
  • High School Diploma; or
  • Adult High School Diploma; or
  • GED Diploma of High School Equivalency.
Students must demonstrate interest and motivation for the field of Early Childhood Education. A criminal record check is also required.

Employment opportunities
Graduates from this program can find employment in day care centres, pre-school programs, child development centres, after-school programs, and in community-based organisations dealing with child development.
