Wellington (PEI) - February 15, 2013 – Stéphane Parent was elected Chair of the Board of Directors of Collège de l'Île at the Board's regular meeting on February 5, 2013. The Board also finalized implementation of its new governance structure.

Stéphane Parent of Charlottetown is a senior eHealth consultant for DeltaWare System Inc. He has been on the Collège's Board of Directors since September 2012.

Based on recommendations from consultant Raymond Daigle, the Collège began restructuring its governance model at its September 2011 Annual Meeting. The first step was the addition of key partners such as the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and Holland College. At the 2012 Annual Meeting, three representatives of the business sector were added, completing the Board's transition toward a standard structure for a post-secondary institution. The Board of Directors completed the implementation process at its last meeting by establishing three committees. The Policy Committee and the Finance and Audit Committee will begin operations immediately and the Program Committee will be active by summer.

The Collège has also totally restructured its staff and premises. This restructuring represents major financial savings for the Collège and will allow it to confidently undertake future projects.

The Collège wishes to thank Colleen Soltermann for her years of service. Ms. Soltermann, who had been Chair of the Board of Directors since November 2008, will remain on the Board as outgoing Chair until the Annual Meeting scheduled for September 2013.
