Wellington, PEI - December 12, 2013 – In January, Collège de l'Île will launch a new free basic skills assessment and coaching service to help people acquire the knowledge they need to pass the General Educational Development Test (GED) or obtain a Grade 12 diploma.

Wellington, PEI - November 22, 2013 – Several hundred people on Prince Edward Island learn French each year through Collège de l'Île Whether for work or because they want to become fully bilingual, they all find courses that suit their needs. Collège de l'Île is happy to announce that its next oral French course is starting in January 2014 and that registrations are open until December 6.

SUMMERSIDE, PEI – October 3, 2013 – Collège de l'Île held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) last Monday, September 23, at the Centre Belle-Alliance in Summerside. The Collège took advantage of the occasion to announce a financial surplus, amend its bylaws and regulations and elect new members to its Board of Directors.

Wellington, PEI - September 11, 2013 – Collège de l'Île is happy to announce that it will be offering a course in French grammar beginning on October 8, 2013. The sessions will be held every Tuesday evening from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM for 10 weeks.

Wellington, PEI - July 30, 2013 – Anyone wanting to learn French, upgrade their skills or become fluently bilingual can now register for conversational French courses offered by Collège de l'Île and starting in September. Collège de l'Île offers two options: evening classes and self-directed learning.

Wellington, PEI – July 11, 2013 – Collège de l'Île, in collaboration with Island First Aid Services, is pleased to announce that an Emergency First Aid course will be offered in French next Thursday, July 18, from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Wellington campus (48 Mill Road). This course will permit employers to meet their obligations to the Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) for staff training.

WELLINGTON, PEI - July 2, 2013 – With the help of funding from Health Canada and partnerships with institutions belonging to the Consortium national de formation en santé (CNFS), Collège de l'Île is proud to announce the graduation on June 21, 2013, of the first class from its Licensed Practical Nurse program. All three graduates, Paula Arsenault, Brittany Savoie and Kathy Richard, are already working in their field.

SUMMERSIDE, PEI - June 21, 2013 – During graduation ceremonies at the Centre-Belle-Alliance in Summerside, Collège de l'Île presented college certificates and diplomas for the year 2012-2013. The theme of the event was Un diplôme en main, un avenir pour demain (A diploma today, a future for tomorrow).

Wellington, PEI – March 25, 2013 – Collège de l'Île and its students are happy to announce that they will be offering free mini-lessons on concepts in Word 2010. The sessions will be held at the Wellington campus on March 28 and April 4, 2013.

Students in the Office Technology program will be offering sessions on concepts in Word such as: formatting a letter, inserting an image, headers and footers, creating tables and tabulations and using templates to create posters.

CHARLOTTETOWN PEI - March 15, 2013 – Approximately a dozen Collège de l'Île students are finishing the school year by sharing their experience as students and presenting the Collège's various programs to over 250 immersion students in schools in Charlottetown, Summerside and West Prince.

The first round of presentations took place last Friday, when the students visited Charlottetown Rural and Colonel Gray Schools in Charlottetown and spoke to 5 classes for a total of over 125 students. The visits will continue this Wednesday, April 17, at Three Oaks in Summerside and Westisle School in Prince County, where they will reach over 130 students.

CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI – March 13, 2013 – During an Open House held this past Tuesday, Canadian Parents for French signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Collège de l'Île that will increase collaboration between the two bodies.

Since Collège de l'Île offers French language training and French language college programs and Canadian Parents for French promotes the acquisition of French as a second language, both organizations wish to cooperate in order to increase the number of opportunities to learn French on Prince Edward Island. By working together, the partners will be able to focus their efforts on increasing the number of graduates of immersion programs who are ready to hold bilingual positions when they have finished their post-secondary studies.

Wellington, PEI - March 8, 2013 – Collège de l'Île and Island First Aid Services are pleased to announce their collaboration to offer two courses that will allow employers to meet their staff training obligations as laid down by the Workers Compensation Board (WCB) of PEI on March 21 and 22, 2013, at its Wellington campus.

An Emergency First Aid course will be offered on Thursday, March 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A WHIMIS course on working with hazardous materials will be offered on Friday, March 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Both courses will be offered at 48 Mill Road in Wellington.

Wellington (PEI) - February 15, 2013 – Stéphane Parent was elected Chair of the Board of Directors of Collège de l'Île at the Board's regular meeting on February 5, 2013. The Board also finalized implementation of its new governance structure.

Stéphane Parent of Charlottetown is a senior eHealth consultant for DeltaWare System Inc. He has been on the Collège's Board of Directors since September 2012.

BATHURST (NB), POINTE DE L'ÉGLISE (NS), WELLINGTON (PEI) - January 28, 2013 – Thanks to a partnership with Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB), starting in September 2013, Université Sainte-Anne (Nova Scotia) and Collège de l'Île (Prince Edward Island) will offer a new specialized program in welding.

This cooperation between the three Francophone post-secondary institutions will enable students in rural or minority settings to take a specialized vocational training program. From the CCNB – Campus de Bathurst, teachers will offer training via videoconferencing to the various training centres, including Université Sainte-Anne and Collège de l'Île
